I also generally don’t believe Tom Hanks is very attractive, and the movie was a one-sided romance from Annie’s point of view, until they meet in the very end.įor humor I’d give the movie a 6/10, there were funny moments such as Jonah calling the radio station to set up his dad, and the hyena laugh of the woman Sam goes on a date with, however, it wasn’t consistently funny, and it felt less like a rom-com and more just a romance movie. Personally, I don’t believe Sam was very swoon worthy, he was very sweet with his son, and showed a lot of love towards his late wife, but overall, not the best.
The movie ends them leaving the Empire State Building hand in hand. Jonah runs away to meet Annie, and Sam follows him, resulting in Annie and Sam meeting. She sends a drunken letter to Sam’s address in which she begs Sam to meet her at the top of the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day, which Jonah intercepts, and begs his dad to meet her. She becomes obsessed with finding him, even hiring a personal investigator to dig up information on him. Now I was a little thrown off when I looked up the movie and the description started with the plot that Tom Hanks is a recent widow, I thought that was a little dark for the typical rom com, but I decided to go with it anyway.
